January Java Journal: Favorite Foods

Happy Monday! This week I worked on the Favorite Foods prompt in my #januaryjavajournal. As you can see, I was a good girl, mixing healthy stuff in with the treats. LOL!

I created a food-themed embellishment cluster on the right hand page, adding in a trio of food-related flair from Feed Your Craft.

The weekly prompts for this journal project are still available in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group. You can start this project at any time. Grab a journal you love and work with whatever prompt(s) appeal to you. Before you know it, you'll have a journal chock full of great memories!

Card Share: 9 Months (Crate Paper Little You Boy)

I've been making baby boy cards with Crate Paper's Little You Boy collection. The collection is so adorable and has so many sweet elements. I just can't resist it! Also, how cute is the dump truck flair from Feed Your Craft's All Boy set?

I have the Little You Girl collection on hand so watch for some pretty in pink creations soon. :) I got both collections from the Paper Issues store, where you'll find a whole bunch of new arrivals. You're welcome to use the code LISA20 to save 20% any time you order.

Card Share: Family Dog Sympathy Card (Bella Blvd. Rover)

Dog and cat sympathy cards are one of the top sellers in my Etsy shop, The Card Kiosk. I like to make them colorful so they remind the owner of happy memories and fun times spent with their pet. As sad as they are to make, they also bring me joy knowing that people choose them to bring comfort to a friend or family member who has lost their sweet fur baby.

January Java Journal: Traditions

The Traditions prompt in my #januaryjavajournal made me think of our yearly pick-your-own visits to the fruit farm, starting with summer strawberry, cherry and blueberry picking and ending with apple picking in the fall.

As always, I went through my stash to find embellishments that worked with my theme, adding in some acrylic and wood pieces from Color Cast Designs and a piece of leaf flair from Feed Your Craft.

Even though January has past, weekly prompts are still being shared in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group. You can join in at any time. Just work with whatever prompt(s) appeal to you. Before you know it, you'll have a journal chock full of great memories!

Card Share: It's a Boy (Crate Paper Little You Boy)

Crate Paper's Little You Boy collection is sooooo adorable! I mean how sweet are all of these shades of blue? The bottle die cut and sweet fox won me over too!

Card Share: Everything Nice (Crate Paper Wonder)

Sugar and spice and everything nice...that's what little girls are made of — especially four year old birthday girls! Crate Paper Wonder was perfect for this sweet card. The number four was already printed on one of the papers so I worked my embellishments around it. I paired feminine patterns and colors with gold foil, chipboard stars, enamel dots and a flair button from Feed Your Craft.

January Java Journal: Places I've Visited

Today we're taking a trip down memory lane — all the way back to 1977 when I spent the summer in Israel with my Dad and one of my sisters. I was 14 years old at the time, the age Alexa is now. That's me on the right in the photo. Don't I look thrilled?

Although the prompt in my #januaryjavajournal is Places I Want To Travel To, I took it in a different direction and journaled about a place I HAVE traveled too. It was fun to revisit the memories with my sister, including the chance to meet Golda Meir (and telling her she shouldn't smoke so much, LOL).

I used a bunch of travel-themed embellishments from my stash, like suitcase rub ons, map chipboard frames and a wood veneer "ticket", along with pieces of Feed Your Craft flair that worked well with my topic and design.

The good news is, this project is continuing through the month of February, with prompts being shared every Monday in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group. Don't worry if you didn't start from the beginning. Just work with whatever prompt(s) appeal to you. Before you know it, you'll have a journal filled with great memories!

Card Share: You're Cool for Feed Your Craft

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a card I created for Feed Your Craft. I used a piece of flair from the new Birthday Wishes Part Color set. The cool thing about this set is that it comes in black and white, part color and full color!

Here's a look at the Part Color set:

Card Share: So Much Love (Bella Blvd. Valentina)

Friday night, Mary Ann Jenkins and I hosted a fun Super Bowl Scrap & Chat in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group. We chatted it up for an hour and then had two challenges. My challenge was to Get to the Heart of It. As you can see, this was the perfect opportunity to make a Valentine's Day card. :)

Paper Issues Pinspire Me: Donut Forget (Bella Blvd. Valentina)

I'm playing along with the February Pinspire Me Mood Board at Paper Issues. Here's a look at the inspiration piece Mary-Ann put together. I'm loving all of the beautiful love-themed images. If you're into mixed media, there's so much potential for using that as your springboard.

I was drawn to the images of the food, going with donuts instead of cupcakes and truffles. I also used plenty of red and black to go along with the black and white photo. If you'd like to see what other members of the design team were inspired to create, check out the Paper Issues blog today.

Create something based on this piece and post it to the Pinspire Me album in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group by March 6th for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. If you share your project on Instagram, be sure to hashtag it with #paperissuespinspireme.

If you haven't joined the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group yet, click on the link above. Not only will you find a fun group of women, all with paper issues just like us, but you'll get advanced notice of sales, product arrivals, special discounts, advanced product previews and so much more! There's always something happening and it's a fun place to
hang out. I hope you'll stop by to check it out. :)

Card Share: We Flamin-go Together (Bella Blvd. Valentina)

Do you like puns? Then you're in the right place! Today I'm sharing a sweet Valentine's Day card made with Bella Blvd.'s Valentina collection. I cut a 3x4 card from one of the papers, backed it with dark pink paper to make it pop and then simply embellished with machine stitching, a button, enamel dots and a banner sticker. I think it flamin-goes together quite well, don't you? :)

Take 5 with Paper Issues: 3 Sweet and Fabulous (Crate Paper Wonder)

Hey everyone! It's time for another Take 5 challenge at Paper Issues. Here's how it works...each month there will be a list of items to use as inspiration. From that list, you pick 5 of the items to create a paper crafting project of any kind (card, layout, off the page, PL, etc.) You can add in other items and use your own ideas, but you must use at least 5 items from the list.

Here's the list for February:

1. the color red
2. the color pink
3. the color turquoise or teal
4. three (3) photos
5. a heart
6. patterned paper
7. a sticker
8. a tag
9. a stamp
10. cardstock
11. foam dots or squares — anything to add dimension
12. an arrow
13. ink, mist or paint
14. something gold
15. wood grain (this can be wood veneer, patterned paper, anything with a wood grain)

Link your finished project to the Take 5 Challenge album in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group to be in the running for a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store).

I'm really enjoying this challenge. I hope you are too! In case you're wondering, I used #2, #3, #5, #12 and #14. :)

January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Can't Stop Thinking About...

Continuing on with my #januaryjavajournal, today I'm sharing a two-page spread based on the prompt, Can't Stop Thinking About...As you can see, this topic brought my Mom to mind. It's been 11 years since she passed away and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her. I have plenty of silly pictures of her and they totally make me smile. We used to tease her, that when she was gone, we'd never have any "normal" photos of her to share with future generations. I'm OK with that. I'd rather they see her silly spirit shining through.

I'm working on a couple more pages in my journal, so I'll share when I get a chance. If you'd like a look at all of the prompts-to-date, please visit the challenge album on Facebook. The good news is, this challenge was so well received, it's going to continue, on a weekly basis, in February.
