January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Favorite Books

Throughout this month I've continued working on my January Java Journal project with Paper Issues. It's so easy to sit down and get a couple of pages done in a short period of time. It's such a doable project, I can see myself working on this throughout the year.

Today I'm sharing one of the pre-printed journal prompts — Favorite Books. I wrote a bit about a book that really touched me, one of the most memorable books I've read and the book I'm currently reading.

I'll share more pages as I finish them. In the meantime, if you'd like to look at all of the prompts-to-date, please visit the challenge album on Facebook.

Card Share: Make a Wish (Dear Lizzy Documentary)

This was a fun card to make. I used three different elements to spell out "make a wish", starting with a round die cut, followed by a single alpha sticker and ending with a beautiful script word sticker. I love how the sentiment trails down the card, and encompasses the cheerful, celebratory pinwheels.

January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Counting My Blessings

Hi everyone! Today I'm Counting My Blessings in my January Java Journal. I embellished the prompt page a bit, using a Project Life card as a journaling pocket on the facing page.

A piece of Feed Your Craft flair worked perfectly as a pull tab on the journaling tag.

I'll be sharing more pages on Wednesday. If you'd like to create your own journal or see all of the prompts, please visit the challenge album on Facebook.

Card Share: #1 Cool Kid (Simple Stories So Rad)

Since I don't make many boy-themed projects, I thought I'd share this birthday card I put together with Simple Stories So Rad. I love all of the bits & pieces in this collection — so perfect for layering! Plus, you can't go wrong with houndstooth and this great masculine color scheme.

January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Memories of School

I'm having a lot of fun working on my January Java Journal. Today I'm sharing one of the suggested prompts from day 12 — Memories of School.

I covered the pre-printed prompt on the left page with layered frames and embellishments. The photo is one I took on Alexa's first day of school.

I'll be sharing more of my pages soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to check out the all of the prompts-to-date, please visit the challenge album on Facebook.

January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Where Have You Lived?

Yesterday I shared the cover to my January Java Journal. Today I'm back to show you how I interpreted one of today's suggested prompts — Where Have You Lived?

So, how did I document the places I've lived? I printed my journaling on a piece of cardstock and adhered the cardstock to the back of a photo of the first house Tom and I bought together. I added a gold foil butterfly as a pull tab to make it easier to remove the photo from the bag.

I'll be sharing more pages over the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you'd like to check out the challenge and all of the prompts-to-date, please visit the challenge album on Facebook.

January Java Journal with Paper Issues: Journal Cover

Have you been playing along with Paper Issues' January Java Journal challenge? I've done a few mini albums in my time, but never a journal and I have to say, I am loving it!

Every day we post a couple of prompts. You can either use them or take things in your own direction. It's quick. It's easy. It's a whole bunch of fun! The idea is to just run with your creativity and not to over think it (yes, I'm super guilty of that, LOL), spending about five minutes a day (with or without a cup of your favorite beverage).

I started off by decorating the cover. This is a Dear Lizzy journal. It was part of the journaling kit Paper Issues offered for this challenge but feel free to use whatever works for you — a Smash book, a fauxdori, a handmade album, a spiral notebook, etc. I used items from my stash throughout the journal.

Tomorrow I'll give you a look at my first two inside pages. See you then!

Paper Issues Pinspire Me: Lil Love Bug (Bella Blvd. Valentina)

I'm playing along with the new Pinspire Me Mood Board at Paper Issues. Here's a look at the inspiration piece Mary-Ann put together. Isn't it pretty?

As you can see, I was a bit of a non-conformist and didn't use blue or purple at all. I was, however, drawn to the cat photo and its beautiful eyes as well as the lace elements which translated into using doilies. If you'd like to see what other members of the design team were inspired to create, check out the Paper Issues blog today.

Create something based on this piece and post it to the Pinspire Me album in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group by February 6th for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. If you share your project on Instagram, be sure to hashtag it with #paperissuespinspireme.

If you haven't joined the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group yet, click on the link above. Not only will you find a fun group of women, all with paper issues just like us, but you'll get advanced notice of sales, product arrivals, special discounts, advanced product previews and so much more! There's always something happening and it's a fun place to
hang out. I hope you'll stop by to check it out. :)

Card Share: Enjoy the Little Things (Crate Paper Wonder) for Feed Your Craft

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a card I made for Feed Your Craft. I used a piece of mini flair from the So Thankful set on a birthday card for an eight year old girl. I'm loving all of the texture and dimension on here.

Here's a look at the set. It's one of my favorites because it's so versatile.

If you're addicted to flair like I am, be sure to check out Feed Your Craft's Etsy shop. Fabulous new sets were just added January 1st. The code LISA20 will save you 20% off of your order.
