Card Share: Splendid 6

Do you remember the boy's birthday card I shared a few weeks ago? I picked up a package of chipboard anchor tags from Target's Dollar Spot and used them all on cards. The first card featured a navy blue anchor, this girl's birthday card features a cute pink one.

I couldn't resist adding some festive elements like a bow, acrylic stars and a fun tag with the number six on it.

Card Share: Dance Right Now (Pink Paislee Fancy Free)

I made this thank you card for Alexa's solo choreographer. She did such an amazing job putting together a routine that worked perfectly with Alexa's style and she is a sweetheart to boot.

I went with plenty of layering, dimension and texture by using paper elements, chipboard, stickers and a silver charm that says, "dance".

Luck Be a Lady

Can you believe I'm starting the week off with a LAYOUT?! :)

Alexa's 2016 jazz routine was performed to "Luck Be a Lady". Because of the black and white costume and her red lips, I went with a classic color combo. The costume, designed to look like a tuxedo, was covered in sparkling, black sequins. The hat was part of the routine and, believe it or not, she never dropped it. I don't think I'd be able to dance and keep track of a prop like that! Black fishnet stockings finished off the look (and thankfully they made it through the season without tearing).

Card Share: 5, 6, 7, 8 (Pink Paislee Fancy Free)

Can you guess who this card was made for? The 5, 6, 7, 8 might give it away since it goes along with counting dance steps. :) If you guessed it was given to one of Alexa's dance teachers, then you guessed correctly!

I couldn't resist prettying up the circles on the patterned paper with a mix of chipboard, enamel shapes, buttons and even a silver charm. One teacher joked that she wasn't going to open her card this year if it wasn't handmade. She has saved every card I've ever made her over the past 10 years!

Card Share: Amazing Things

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a graduation card made with pieces from Becky Higgins' Currently ephemera pack (a Project Life collection). They are so much fun to mix, match and layer, plus there are touches of silver foil to add a bit of shine.

I think this card would work equally well to give to someone starting a new job. What do you think?

Card Share: Game On (Simple Stories So Rad)

I know Father's Day was yesterday, but I have one more card to share. I put this together with Simple Stories So Rad scraps and an eclectic mix of embellishments from my stash.

I recently set up my word processing program to print sentiments inside of my cards. This way I can personalize them a bit more for my Etsy shop. This one says, "Are You 'Game' For A Happy Father's Day?"

Card Share: Party Hat

Ahoy there me hearties! I bought a package of chipboard anchor tags from Target's Dollar Spot and...well, of course you know I HAD to work them into a card design. The package had light blue, navy, light pink and hot pink and yes, I used them all. :)

The design on the background paper reminded me of ocean waves so I started with that. The gold star vellum worked well too, softening the background and allowing the tag and other elements to stand out a bit more. A trio of acrylic stars from Color Cast Designs and party hat flair from Feed Your Craft paired nicely with the other embellishments.

Card Share: Hello Summer (Simple Stories Summer Vibes)

The school year is (finally) coming to a close and Alexa has been busy bringing gifts to her teachers. I went with a summer theme for the thank you cards. This one went to Alexa's gym teacher who spends the summer at her lake cottage and runs a popcorn store. We plan to take a trip to visit her this summer. Alexa says the popcorn is amazing!

Card Sketch with Paper Issues: Live Out Loud (Pink Paislee Fancy Free)

Hi everyone! I'm playing along with Paper Issues' June card sketch challenge. This is an end-of-the-year thank you card for Alexa's tap teacher. I made a number of cards for the teaching staff, all using Pink Paislee's Fancy Free. I added a silver "dance" charm to each card to make them all a bit more special. :)

Here's a look at the sketch:

Add your card to the challenge album by July 4th for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. If you've been thinking about refreshing your stash for summer, use the code LISA20 when you shop in the store and save 20%. :)

Card Share: 2 Dad (Simple Stories So Rad)

I'm still working on Father's Day cards (and should probably think about making one for my husband) for my Etsy shop. This one is definitely for the best dad ever — a cool dad.

Simple Stories So Rad worked really well for this card because of the "traditional" masculine colors. I added in a few items from my stash, added a bit of machine stitching and called it done. :)

Take 5 with Paper Issues: Yippee (Simple Stories Let's Party)

It's time for another Take 5 challenge at Paper Issues. Here's how it works...each month there's a list of items to use as inspiration. Pick 5 of the items from the list and create a paper crafting project of any kind (card, layout, off the page, pocket page, etc.) You can add other items and use your own ideas, but you must use at least 5 items from the list.

Here's the list for June:

Link your finished project to the Take 5 Challenge album in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group by July 4th to be in the running for a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store.

I love this challenge so much and really look forward to what Mary-Ann has in store for us every month. In case you're wondering, I used #1 the color yellow, #2 the color white, #4 the color blue, #5 patterned paper, and #12 die cut.

Pinspire Me with Paper Issues: Star Student (Pink Paislee Fancy Free)

I'm playing along with the June Pinspire Me Mood Board at Paper Issues. Here's a look at the inspiration piece.

My card was inspired by the book, heart, colors in the puddle, the stacked suitcases (I used a book die cut) and the overall vacation/relaxation theme.

Create something based on this piece and post it in the Pinspire Me album in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group by July 4th for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. If you share your project on Instagram, be sure to hashtag it with #paperissuespinspireme.

Card Share: You Rock Dad (Simple Stories So Rad)

Father's Day is in just a few weeks and I've been working hard to create cards for my Etsy shop. This one is definitely for a dad who loves music, maybe even has some good old fashioned cassette tapes still hanging around.

I turned to Simple Stories So Rad to make this card because it's worked really well for masculine projects in the past. Believe it or not, I'm down to scraps and a few embellishments. I love when that happens!
