Card Share: I Am Me (Simple Stories I Am) and a Giveaway (NOW CLOSED)

Hi everyone! This is a long post so bear with me because there's a "first class" giveaway at the end that will make it all worth it. :)

Paper Issues is having their very first online crop. There are 24 challenges. You have until March 29th to post your projects to the challenges you'd like to participate in. There are a ton of great sponsors and prizes, including two grand prizes — one is a 6-month Swag Bag subscription and the other is a Paper Issues tote bag made by Parker on the Porch and filled with Bella Blvd. product. There's also a challenge where you are playing to win a four-month term on the Paper Issues design team! Pretty cool, right?

My challenge is called Alphabet Soup. The prize is a $10 gift certificate to the Paper Issues storeAs an example, I created a card using Simple Stories gorgeous new I Am collection. Individual alpha stickers, dictionary vellum (plenty of alphas on that!), a typewriter and sentiment stickers are the perfect ingredients for Alphabet Soup. :)

Now it's your turn...Create a new, never-before-seen project (layout, card, tag or pocket page), using any product you'd like but you must use alphas in some manner on your project. Think individual stickers, word die cuts, subway art, fonts, and even typewriters. Have fun with it! Thinking outside of the box is always welcome!

You have until Sunday 3/29 to add your project to the Alphabet Soup challenge album (or corresponding album for any of the other challenges you'd like to participate in) in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group to be eligible for the prizes.

As if there aren't plenty of prizes being given away already, I have a giveaway for you too, a "first class" giveaway in fact. As many of you know, my husband makes beautiful hand turned, hand crafted, one-of-a-kind writing instruments and bottle stoppers from a variety of materials. One randomly chosen winner (sorry, but this is for U.S. residents only) will have their choice of one of the two pens shown below (because what complements paper better than a beautiful writing instrument?) All you need to do is leave a comment saying which pen you'd choose if you won — the Trim Line Chrome Pen in Purple Haze Acrylic (left) or the Wall St. II Chrome Pen in Black Marbled Acrylic (right). You have until Sunday 3/29 at midnight EDT to leave a comment.

If you'd like to see more of Tom's work, please visit and "favorite" his Etsy shop, First Class Pens. You can use one of the following codes when you shop (good through 3/31):

CROP10 = 10% off any purchase over $20
CROPFREESHIP = Free shipping plus one (1) free pen refill

You can also "like" First Class Pens on Facebook to keep up on the most recent additions to the store. These items are special, timeless gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, holidays, and so much more! Plus, there's always the option of treating yourself. :)

I will announce the winner of the pen on my blog and in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group on 4/1. Good luck and happy crafting!

  7. Hard to make a decision on which pen I like best, the purple is beautiful. But I think I would say the black one because the black is a classic color and personally I like a little chunkier pen.

IMO I would chose the Purple Haze Acrylic because it instantly made me think of my college student and what a fun thing that would be to have in his arsenal.
