Paper Issues: Pocket Full of Sunshine

We have a new linky party starting at Paper Issues today. This one is called Pocket Full of Sunshine and is being sponsored by Panda Eight Designs, owned by fellow Paper Issues design team member, Martha Bonneau.

Link up, and link back, for a chance to win five (yes, five!) sets of flair (of your choosing) from the Panda Eight shop. Martha even designed a custom set of flair for this issue. You can see it on the Paper Issues blog and find it for sale in the Panda Eight shop.

What sorts of projects could you link?
  • Pocket pages of all kinds or projects with PL-style cards on them.
  • Projects with envelopes.
  • Anything with a sun or sunburst as a design element and/or the word "sunshine" (like my card above).
  • Show us what you keep in your pockets or purse.
  • Upcycle a pocket from an old pair of pants or jeans.
  • Use Panda Eight flair.
For the next two weeks, Panda Eight is offering a 20% discount. Just use the code SUNSHINE20.

Card Share: Zoo Party Invitation (Echo Park Day at the Zoo)

Last week I shared a "beary" cute card made with Echo Park's new Day at the Zoo. Today I have a birthday party invitation to show you, made with the same collection.

I created a pocket using the "We're Going To The Zoo" journaling card (bottom row, left) and placed a ticket inside. The ticket is a Silhouette cut file. I layered this journaling spot over another, "Don't Feed the Animals" (middle row, right). Party details are printed on the inside of the card. A giraffe sticker peeks out from behind the ticket, as if he's checking things out.

I'm taking a bit of a blog break this week so I'll be back on Friday with a new post. See you then!

Card Share: I Love You Beary Much (Echo Park Day at the Zoo)

I can "bearly" stand the cuteness of Echo Park's Day at the Zoo mini collection!

The journaling spot from this paper (bottom row, center) was the starting point for my card:

I dressed the bear up with some pearls and a bow (because what bear doesn't like to dress up? LOL!), adding in word bubble stickers to complement the sentiment already printed on the paper. Now he's ready for just about any occasion. :)

A free PDF instruction sheet on how to make this card, can be found right here.

On Monday I'll share another card I made with this collection, this time a birthday party invitation. See you then!

He's Meow 5 (Simple Stories Sn@p Cat)

Can you believe this page contains only one 3" x 4" piece of patterned paper (and most of it is covered up)? It's true. The yellow polka dot paper, on the right side of the photo, is the only patterned paper on this page.

The rest of the layout features Simple Stories Sn@p Cat collection squares, diecut pieces and stickers. The rest is a mix of other embellishments, like wood veneer, flair, transparencies, and chipboard. I don't think I've ever done a page with this little paper before. It was really fun to do!

How about you? Do you rely on patterned paper for the majority of your projects or do you use it more as an accent?

Paper Issues: Count Your Lucky Stars

Happy St. Patrick's Day! There's a new link up starting at Paper Issues today called Count Your Lucky Stars. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about what to link up:
  • Anything having to do with St. Patrick's Day.
  • Is there an actor/actress you're star struck over?
  • What's your star sign? Do you follow your horoscope?
  • Is there someone in your life you can really count on?
  • Have you done a layout about a child learning to count?
  • Have you had a streak of good luck?
  • Are you interested in stars and astronomy?
  • Use star paper, stars as an embellishment or use the word stars in your title.
  • Use a Lori Whitlock cut file on your project.
Why a Lori Whitlock cut file? We're lucky to have Lori Whitlock as our sponsor for this link up. One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Lori Whitlock store.

So what are you waiting for? Link up and link back to Paper Issues and you could be going on a fabulous shopping spree in the Lori Whitlock store!

Card Share: 49 (Echo Park My Life)

One more look this week at Echo Park's My Life collection. While I had it out for design team assignments, I decided to make a card for one of my sister's upcoming birthdays. Can you guess how old she's going to be? :)

You may notice a resemblance between this card, and the card I shared on Tuesday. I used the same journaling card paper as the background for both cards, but achieved a different look by layering different stickers and elements on top of it. :)

Have a great weekend! I'll be back on Monday with a new post.

Card Share: Capture Everyday Moments (Echo Park My Life)

Today I'm sharing another card I made for Echo Park's CHA booth. This one also features the My Life mini collection. This was quick and easy to put together using a journaling card, some heart and number stickers and a trio of pearls. I've put this into my stash to send as an everyday/thinking of you card.

Card Share: Be Grateful Everyday (Echo Park My Life)

I made this card for Echo Park's booth at CHA using the My Life mini collection. This collection is so versatile and great for everyday projects. This calendar paper can be used in so many ways (I used February on my card). Any collection that includes calendars or bingo cards is a friend of mine. :)

How about you, do you have a design element you're always drawn to? Lately I also need anything that has ampersands on it. :)

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED: Echo Park/Top Dog Dies Blog Hop

Welcome to the Echo Park Design Team Blog Hop! Members of the Echo Park team are sharing projects made from Echo Park's newest collections and working with fabulous dies provided by Top Dog Dies. I don't have a manual diecut machine, so I don't have a project to share, but I do have a prize to give away (more on that below).

Be sure to follow the blog hop list (below) as you hop from one blog to the next. If you get lost along the way, you can always return to the Echo Park Paper blog to find the next blogger on the list.

ONE winner will be randomly selected from each of the Echo Park Paper design team members' blogs to receive a collection kit of their choosing (from currently shipping collections). Top Dog is also offering special prizes on their blog so be sure to check each blog for details.

To qualify for the drawing, all you need to do is leave a comment and become a follower of my blog if you aren't already. Comments need to be left by midnight MDT, Sunday, March 16th. Winners will be announced on each blog on Wednesday, March 19th, so be sure to check back to see if you've won.

Capture Everyday Moments (Echo Park My Life)

My beloved Echo Park CHA projects have found their way back to me, so now I can start sharing them here on my blog.

This layout features the new My Life mini collection, one of my favorite releases from CHA. Packaging from an iTunes gift card came in handy as an embellishment. :)

Purrfection (Simple Stories Homespun)

Today I'm sharing a page that features Simple Stories new Homespun collection (with a bit of the new cat Sn@p collection added in too). The colors in this collection are so beautiful, ranging from navy blue, to salmon pink, to mint green and more. I just love it!

Homespun worked so well for this sweet page about Alexa's love for her cat. I used a number of ampersands around the page (my latest obsession) to emphasize how the words "me & you" and "you & me" are interchangeable and how Alexa and Butterscotch always come as a pair.

Detail shots of this page are up on the Simple Stories blog. I'd love it if you stopped by to say hi. :) Thank you!

24/7 (Simple Stories DIY Boutique)

Here's a look at Simple Stories new DIY Boutique collection. It has a super fun color palette!

This page is based on a sketch by Becky Fleck at PageMaps. The Simple Stories team provided the samples for this month's sketches. Here's the sketch I worked with:

I stayed pretty true to the sketch, using a Polaroid frame in place of the second photo and adding in my own touches around the page. You can see all of this month's sketches and samples on the PageMaps web site.

Some of you may recognize the guy in the photo as tWitch from So You Think You Can Dance. Alexa had a chance to dance with him at a recent convention. She was over-the-top excited about meeting him. Not only is he an amazing dancer, but the sweetest, funniest guy too.

Detail shots of this page are up on the Simple Stories blog. Pop on over if you'd like to take a look. :)
