The Everyday (Simple Stories Daily Grind)

Hi everyone! My first Simple Stories design team assignment is up on their blog today, along with detail shots. This page features the Daily Grind collection. I worked punched circles and sticker circles into my design and had a lot of fun working around the elements already printed on the page.

Bands of Color (Echo Park Hippity Hoppity)

Hi everyone! Are your kids obsessed with the Rainbow Loom? Alexa sure is! She received it as a gift back in October and hasn't put it down since. She's gone through thousands of bands and made all sorts of bracelet patterns and charms. Her latest creations include Elmo, Cookie Monster, a lollipop, rabbit, carrot and bunny.

I don't scrapbook about current trends much, but I thought this one deserved documenting. Years from now Alexa can look back at this page and remember how much she loved this craft. Who knows. She may still even have the thing and be able to show her kids how to use it. :)

I used Echo Park's new Hippity Hoppity collection. It's primarily a spring and Easter collection, but it worked so well with the rainbow of colors in the photos.

Handmade Holiday (Simple Stories Handmade Holiday)

You may have been shocked when I posted a two-page pocket-style layout last week, but guess what? I did another one!

This one is about the gingerbread house exhibit we go to every year at the George Eastman House. I always take way too many photos and end up scrapping only a few of them. I shared a layout about one of the other creations yesterday.

There are so many amazing creations displayed. They're made by families, scouting troops, senior centers and professional bakers. This year I wanted to record more of them so that's how this two-pager was born.

Here's a closer look at the left side. I personalized the stocking stickers with rub on letters. I also embellished inside and outside of the pockets, as I usually do.

Here's a look at the right-hand page. Isn't the old-fashioned armoire (top left photo) amazing? It was inside a glass case so I couldn't get the best photo of it. I was also in awe of the birdhouse (bottom right photo) with all of the detailed shingles.

I'm caught up on gingerbread house photos, so I'll be moving on to other topics tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by today!

Houses Made of Sugar, Spice & Love (Crate Paper Bundled Up)

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing a Crate Paper Bundled Up layout featuring one of my favorite gingerbread "houses" from the exhibit we go to each year. It's amazing how creative people get with gingerbread.

I had so much fun grouping and layering up the embellishments on this page. In addition to the pieces that are part of the Crate collection, there are also bits here and there from Echo Park, Lily Bee, Studio Calico and Maya Road.

Do you tend to stick with one manufacturer when designing your pages, or do you like to mix-and-match like me?

P.S. This collection is available in the Paper Issues store. You can get it at 20% off with my code LISA20. :) Just a little enabling for today.

Love You to the Moon (Echo Park Head Over Heels)

Echo Park's new Head Over heels collection isn't just for people pictures. It worked perfectly well for this page about Alexa's cat (she took the photo). I love the touches of blue and tan, mixed with the traditional Valentine's Day colors, don't you?

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure (Echo Park Happy Camper)

Yes, you are visiting the right blog and no, you are not seeing things. I actually did a two-pager...a Project Life-style two-pager to be exact. :)

Over the summer we visited an animal safari. There were so many photo ops and I ended up with a bunch of photos. Alexa took most of the animal shots.

I put off scrapping the photos because I wasn't sure how to deal with them all, plus I wasn't sure what collection to use. It wasn't until I went to a crop and the vendor there had Echo Park's Happy Camper on display. Sold!

The left-hand page has a 6x12 pocket on the left and three 4x6 openings. I used the largest pocket for embellishment clusters and included a pocket to hold a journaling tag. This section slides out easily for access to the journaling.

The right hand page features photos mixed with a row of 3x4 cards. I embellished both inside, and outside, of the pockets. The title was cut on my Silhouette.

I find pocket pages to be useful when I have an abundance of photos to be scrapped. For the most part, I've done a traditional 12x12 page paired with a pocket page, but I like being able to use two pocket pages as well.

Paper Issues: You Are Just My Type

Hi everyone! We have a new link up starting at noon EST today over at Paper Issues and I'd love it if you'd join in (projects do NOT have to be newly created for this). I'm linking up one of the Valentine's Day cards I shared with you last Thursday. I'm not eligible for the prize of a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Issues store, but the design team likes to join in on the fun too.  :)

The link up is called You Are Just My Type (just like the sentiment on my card). You can get all of the details right here. I hope to see you all linking up. :)

Card Share: Tween/Teen Valentine Cards (Echo Park Head Over Heels)

Today I'm excited to share my very first Echo Park design team assignment. I was asked to make a trio of tween/teen-themed Valentine's Day cards with the new Head Over Heels collection.

Let's take a closer look at each of the cards, shall we?

#1: U R Just My Type. This sentiment was inspired by the adorable typewriters in the background paper.

#2: I Really Bike You. Another pun sentiment based on the sweet bicycle patterned paper.

#3: You Just Plane Make Me Happy. I couldn't resist using the cute paper airplane and yes, making another pun. :)

Do you have a favorite? For more detailed design information on these projects, please check out today's post on the Echo Park blog. While you're there be sure to say hello and maybe leave me some love too. :) Thank you!

I'll be back on Monday with a new layout to share.

Card Share: Love Stories

Hi everyone! I'm sharing another Valentine's Day card today, made mostly with products from Christmas collections (music vellum tape, "stories" tag and "love" sticker). Red, black and white work well for Valentine's Day and for Christmas, don't you think?

Here's a detail shot:

Thanks for stopping by. I have a fun set of cards to share tomorrow.

Card Share: Feb. 14th

The background of this card is pieced together with scraps from Christmas and winter projects. I embellished some of the strips with rub ons that have been in my stash forever and stitched between the pieces to add some definition and texture.

Here's a closer look:

I know it's still a month away, but have you started making Valentine's Day cards yet?

Card Share: I {Heart} My Family (Simple Stories Homespun)

Would you like a look at Simple Stories new Homespun collection in action? This is one of the cards I made for the Simple Stories booth at CHA.

Homespun has a refreshing color palette with shades of yellow, green, navy, turquoise, red and black. Take a look here to see the full reveal.

This card was so easy to put together using chipboard pieces (camera, hearts) and alpha stickers (1, 2 and 3) atop a 4x6 vertical journaling card.

What do you think of this collection? It's one of my favorites.

Card Share: I Adore You (Little Yellow Bicycle Just Because)

Last year, I made a trio of Valentine's Day chipboard frames as a home decor project for a design team assignment. I later turned one of the frames into a card, used another as an embellishment on a layout and today I'm sharing a card I created with the third frame.

It's always fun to repurpose projects, isn't it?

I'll be back tomorrow with a CHA project I made with Simple Stories new Homespun collection. Have a great day!

Tree-dition (Simple Stories Handmade Holiday)

Our tree has been down for about a week now, but I wanted to scrap a photo of Alexa decorating the tree, something we do shortly after Thanksgiving.

All of the products on this page are from Simple Stories Handmade Holidays collection (2012) but the background paper (believe it or not) is from the I {Heart} Summer collection (2103). The wood design reminded me of a tree, and also made me think of Santa's suit with the touches of black between the red planks so I went with it. I think it's the perfect backdrop for the rest of the page.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new post. See you then!

Paper Issues: We're LIST-ening

We have a new link up going on over at the Paper Issues blog. It's all about lists and it's called, We're LIST-ening.

I don't know about you, but I am a diehard list maker. Sometimes I have lists for my lists. LOL! There's nothing more satisfying than crossing something off a to do list. Of course there are always a bazillion more tasks waiting to be added, but that's a topic for another day.

Do you have any projects that include a list of some kind? Maybe it's a list of your favorite songs, books you'd like to read, or resolutions you'd like to keep in the new year. Come join in on the fun and link them up (they don't have to be new projects created for this link up). You might even be the lucky winner of a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Issues store

Have a great day! I'll be back tomorrow with a layout about decorating our Christmas tree.

Paper Issues Introduces Swag Bags

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you in on some exciting news! Paper Issues is introducing a fun embellishment sampler subscription, called Swag Bags, today at Noon CST.

Here's the information right from the source:

"We are so excited for the debut of Swag Bags! You love Ipsy Bags, Birch Boxes, Loot Crates and all of those amazing monthly samplers sent straight to your door. Why not a scrappy sampler? That's the idea behind our new Swag Bags. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Try it before you commit to a whole pack or just use the bits and wait for next month's offerings.

Our very first Swag Bags will be for sale Friday, January 3 at Noon CST. There are a limited number of subscriptions available. If you are one of the lucky few to get our first kit, you will be locked in.

Your goodies will be delivered to your door every month! As demand increases, so will the number of available subscriptions each month. Each bag will have a set cost of $10. No surprises or price fluctuations.

We know you like to combine shipping so instead of having an automatic billing every month, you will have your own listing (in the store) so you can control when you pay and add on if you'd like. We will send out emails 2 weeks prior to the 1st of the month. Bags will ship out on or about the 5th of the month.

Do you have questions? We have answers! Email us at paperissues@gmail.com or use the Contact Us form on the website."

I hope you'll check it out. Here's a look at the January kit listing in the store. You can use my code LISA20 to get 20% off any order (including Swag Bags).
