I Am the Captain of the Lidemoki (Echo Park Summer Adventure)

You may be asking yourself what the heck is a Lidemoki? LOL! It was the name of my Dad's motor boat. He named it after me and my three sisters, using the first two letters of each of our names (in age order). You can probably guess where I fit in the lineup. :)

In addition to making up silly words, my Dad was also fond of making up silly songs. Yes, there was a song related to boarding the boat. The song was loosely based on Gilbert and Sullivan's "I Am the Captain of the Pinafore" from the musical, The HMS Pinafore (a show I saw with my Dad when I was younger), hence the title of my page.

This page features Echo Park's new Summer Adventure mini collection, along with bits and pieces from Simple Stories, Jillibean Soup, Chic Tags and Elle's Studio. I totally adore the nautical theme. It couldn't have been more perfect for this 90s photo.

Working on a summer page, in the midst of the snowiest and coldest winter ever, has left me yearning for summer even more. How about you?

Card Share: So Lucky (Echo Park St. Patrick's Day)

I used a fun Silhouette cut file to create this card, dressing it up with papers and stickers from Echo Park's new St. Patrick's Day mini collection and a wide white bow.

I think I have plenty of St. Patrick's Day cards on hand now and should probably start thinking about who I'm going to send them to. Do you send out cards for St. Patrick's Day?

Card Share: Pot of Gold (Echo Park St. Patrick's Day)

A card that holds chocolate? Yes, please! This is the last of the shaped cards I made with Echo Park's new St. Patrick's Day mini collection.

This was easy to put together with a cut file from the Silhouette store, stickers and some twine.

If you'd like to see the other shaped cards I made for this assignment, you can see them here and here. I hope you're inspired to try your "luck" at making some St. Patrick's Day cards. :)

Card Share: Luck of the Irish (Echo Park St. Patrick's Day)

Today I'm sharing the second of three shaped cards I made with Echo Park's new St. Patrick's Day mini collection. You can see the first one, a leprechaun hat, right here.

This card, although not shaped, features a shamrock shape cut file from the Silhouette store.

I created a text file with "Happy St. Patrick's Day" as repeated text, and printed it directly onto a shipping tag. The "St. Patrick's Day" strip at the bottom of the tag was cut from the product strip at the bottom of one of the papers.

I'll be back tomorrow with one more card to share. Have a great day!

Card Share: Today is My Lucky Day (Echo Park St. Patrick's Day)

Top o' the mornin' to you! For my latest Echo Park design team assignment, I was asked to make a variety of shaped cards using the new St. Patrick's Day mini collection.

This is the first of three cards I'll be sharing this week. The leprechaun hat is a Silhouette cut file. I added stitching and inking to give the card some depth and a more realistic look.

Other than that, I layered some of the fun element stickers from the collection, added in pearls and embroidery floss and called it done.

Paper Issues: Color by the Numbers

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Just wanted to give you a heads up about the new link up going on over at Paper Issues. The theme for the next two weeks is Color by the Numbers.

There are so many ways to interpret this theme (ideas to get you started are up on the Paper Issues blog). I linked this layout up (even though I'm not eligible for the prize, the design team likes to participate) because it has a bunch of numbers on it, there are numbers on the Scrabble tiles, there are numbers on the calendar and bingo card and I added in some number stickers to represent the year and my age). Phew, that's a lot of numbers. LOL!

Come check out the details and join in on the fun. This time around, one lucky participant will win a goodie bag from our sponsor, Pinkfresh Studio.

Card Share: Truly In Love With You (Echo Park Head Over Heels)

Happy Wednesday! Today I'm sharing a Valentine's Day card that was up on the Echo Park blog last week. It's made with the new Head Over Heels collection. This collection is so fun and so versatile! I've also used it to make a trio of teen Valentine cards and a layout about Alexa's love for her cat.

Today's card is pretty much appropriate to give to anyone you love. :)

Here's a little detail shot:

With Valentine's Day is only two days away, who are you busy making cards for? :)

Just the Guys (Echo Park That's My Boy)

Let me introduce you to my Dad (right) and my uncle (left) and to Echo Park's new That's My Boy collection.

My assignment was to use this collection along with some Echo Park Silhouette shapes of my choosing (tickets, potty person, oval frame, and clock flashcard).

This layout is up on the Echo Park blog, along with detail shots and links to the cut files I used. Today would have been my Dad's 73rd birthday so the timing of this post (which I didn't know at the time I created this page) couldn't be more perfect. It's like having a little celebration in his honor. I think he would have liked that. :)

Card Share: 57 (Echo Park That's My Boy)

Tom celebrated his birthday (can you guess which one?) a few weeks ago. I put together this quick card for him using Echo Park's That's My Boy collection.

Masculine projects are not my strong point, but it's a nice break from making "girly" projects.

Do you have a hard time with masculine or feminine projects? Do you think it's related to the type of projects you do most of the time (which for me is feminine)? I do. I think if I scrapped boy stuff more often, it wouldn't seem so hard.

Card Share: You Are So Sweet (Paper Issues Swag Bag)

Hi everyone! With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I wanted to use my Paper Issues February Swag Bag (details on that here) to make a card. There are loads of little bits and pieces in this embellishment kit! What do you think of the wood veneer envelope? Isn't it cute? The heart-punched shipping tag was another of my favorites. I have a whole bunch of items left over I'll be using on other upcoming projects.

If you haven't checked out the Swag Bags, they're a really great deal at only $9.99/month. You can even use my code LISA20 to get 20% off. It's a monthly kit, set up as a subscription service. Once you make your first month's purchase, you'll receive an email with your listing and payment instructions. Take a look at the February listing for more details.

Card Share: Let's Stick Together (Simple Stories Homespun)

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the Simple Stories CHA booth. This is the new Homespun collection. You can see one of the other cards I made, with this same collection, right here.

The elements on this card are layered on top of a Sn@p Cut from the collection (the scalloped mat). I also used a number of coordinating chipboard pieces (because I loved them all and couldn't decide which ones to use, LOL!)

I can't wait to work with this collection some more. The colors are just fabulous!

The Reading Room (Simple Stories Daily Grind)

Alexa is quite the bookworm. It seems to run in the family. :) I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of her snuggled in her favorite throw, engrossed with her current read.

I created this page with Simple Stories Daily Grind collection. For details and close up shots (and to see another layout I made with this collection), please visit the Simple Stories blog.

Paper Issues: Fill 'er Up

Hi everyone! Just want to let you know about a new linky party starting at Paper Issues at noon EST today. It's called Fill 'er Up. Link up any projects you have (new or old) having to do with:
  • Something that ful"fills" you or makes you happy (like my page above about Alexa's love of dance).
  • Tuck a journaling tag into a bitty bag.
  • Make a vellum pocket and fill it with confetti.
  • Diecut shapes or a title out of your background and "fill" the space with patterned paper or other items.
  • Create a project having to do with today's gas prices, how much it costs to fill your car's gas tank, etc.
  • Share a pocket page...or two...or three.
These are just some ideas to get you started. You can interpret the theme any way you wish.

There's a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Issues store up for grabs. With all of the new CHA goodies coming in, it sure would be nice to win this to put toward a shopping spree. :) As always, you can use my code LISA20 to save 20% any time you shop.
