Turkey on the Shelf: Meet Gallop

I have a confession to make...elves and gnomes (sorry, Katrina) freak me out. LOL! That said, I never got onto the Elf on the Shelf bandwagon. Hopefully Alexa won't have to go into therapy to get over not having her own elf. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to use the same premise in the days preceding Thanksgiving, but with a turkey instead.

Meet Gallop. He arrived at our house on November 1st with a note.

This is what it said:

Hi Alexa!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Meleagris gallopavo (thought you’d like that since you’re learning about genus and species at school), but you can call me Gallop for short, OK?

I’m going to hang out at your house until Thanksgiving Day and then I have to make a run for it because, well, you know...I don’t want to get caught sticking my neck out. Sound good?

I’m just going to make myself at home and because I can’t come running at your every beck and call like your cute cat does, you’ll just have to come find me. I promise I won’t be any trouble.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks.

Take care,

On day 1, Gallop made himself right at home. He was introduced to popcorn for the first time (and proclaimed that it was so much tastier than the kernels he's used to eating) and checked out some daytime TV.

On Day 2, he made himself a snow angel in a pile of rice. Here's hoping he doesn't get into too much trouble and isn't prone to making messes. :)

If nothing else, I'll get a fun scrapbook page out of Gallop's exploits, right? If you do Elf on the Shelf, what is your favorite set up to do? I'm thinking I need some ideas to get me through the next few weeks. LOL!

  1. HOW FUN is HE?!?!?!??!! I love it!! Can't wait to see what he does next!!!!

  2. this is so fun-- we started the elf on the shelf last year-- some fun things that charlie (our elf) did last year-- a snow ball fight with mini marshmallows all over the house-- he got in a tp fight and tp was all over. He broke into the chips bag and at the entire bag and left crumbs on the counter. he hides all over the house and the boys have to find him. he is just a little devil--hahahahaha
