Altered Project: Clothes Pin Holiday Card Holder (Little Yellow Bicycle Once Upon a Christmas/May Arts)

The Little Yellow Bicycle Biker Chicks have been part of a product swap with May Arts Ribbon this week. I've always had a "thing" for May Arts ribbons and trims, so I was thrilled to be able to use some on this holiday project featuring Little Yellow Bicycle's Once Upon a Christmas collection.

I altered five clothespins, that will act as clips, to hold the holiday cards we receive in the mail this year. My very sweet husband helped me get started by spray painting the clothes pins white. :) Once the paint was dry, I was able to embellish them and clip them onto a wide length of green May Arts twill ribbon. I plan to wrap this strip of ribbon over a cabinet door (either in the kitchen or on our entertainment center) so we can enjoy looking at the cards throughout the holiday season.

Here's a look at each of the clothespins in detail.

This one uses paper from the 6x6 pad, a round chipboard element, and May Arts beautiful iridescent silver ribbon.

This one uses a piece of vellum tape, a fabric snowflake, a button and May Arts twine.

I kept it simple on this one by just using a Fresh Verse sticker:

This one also uses paper from the 6x6 paper pad, a flower from the paper crafting kit, and a Fresh Verse sticker. I added the pearls to the center of the flower to give it some dimension and texture.

More vellum tape on this one, plus another chipboard circle and red May Arts ribbon:

All in all, this was a fairly simple project to do. The hardest part was waiting for the paint and Mod Podge to dry. :)

  5. How fun are these?! I currently have plain old clothes pins attached to some twine waiting for the first of the cards to arrive. I may have to take them down and gussy them up! Thanks for the inspiration!
