Unlocking Your Future (Jillibean Soup Neopolitan Bean Bisque)
Looking forward to the first year of middle school (sixth grade in this case) is all fun and games until...it comes to getting the hang of opening your locker using the dreaded combination! Let's just say that the (many, many) attempts ended in a wee bit of hysteria (and not only on Alexa's part). It's been a loooooong time since I used a locker (and you'll notice I'm not saying how long). In the end it turned out that the directions we were following were incorrect. The mother of Alexa's next door locker mate kindly showed us how it was supposed to be done. After that, Alexa opened her locker time and time again. Just to be sure she was really comfortable with getting it open, we went to school the day before school started, so she could try it again...and again...and again. Do you remember what you feared most about middle school? These days I hear that kids are most afraid of someone stuffing them IN their locker. No worries here on that one, they're way too small.

ReplyDeleteMy son started fifth grade this year, so one more to go!
Fab layout!! I just love your layering!! Always looks great!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun layout! I love this time of year and new school stuff. I always want to buy a bunch of notebooks and new pencils at Target when I see the school supplies. Not because I need anything but just because! :) I can't say I was too worried about much in middle school, just super excited that we were no longer stuck in one class with one teacher, we got to move around to different classes and new teachers.
ReplyDeleteWe are in our first year of middle school too, and I can't get over how stressful it is! More so for me than my son, but still. :) Glad she conquered the locker, and the layout is gorgeous! Hope you are trying out for JBS!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Lisa! This is sooooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the layout and story behind it. when my son started middle school he was just as concerned about getting into his locker. By high school he figured it was too much trouble and just carried his books with him through the day.
ReplyDeleteaw love that!
ReplyDeleteLove the layout and the layering! Ha! The lockers ARE so small! My freshman was like... how are we supposed to fit our backpacks in here? Thanks for sharing, and good luck with Middle School! -Amanda
ReplyDeletelove how you captured the memory. My daughter's junior high school does not have lockers, which saves time getting from class to class. But makes their backpack very heavy.
ReplyDeleteI love how you incorporate all the word art/tags/journals as your title.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute page. Love the bold red background and that FAB title! Terrific layering as always. Great topic to document! I remember well that anxiety. It's almost surprising that lockers are still a mainstay of the school experience. So many other things have changed.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous page!
