Wish I Knew More (Little Yellow Bicycle Saturdays)

Little Yellow Bicycle's Saturday collection worked so well with this photo of my paternal grandmother at about sixteen years old. I know many things about her but there's so much I don't know and I wish I could ask her. I know she did amazing needlework, whether it be needlepoint, a knitting project and even crocheting. She knit many, many dresses and sweaters for me and my three sisters over the years. She even crocheted a queen size afghan for me as a wedding shower gift, putting together some of the squares as she sat in the bleachers at my sister Morreen's college graduation. I still keep it on my bed 24 years later (don't worry, I wash it regularly, LOL!) So, what is the fondest memory you have of your grandparents? I'd love to know. :)

  1. This is so pretty, Lisa. I love the pop of blue in the frame against the neautral background. I really like the way you used just the edge of the tickets at the top of your page, too, balanced by the tag at the bottom. You have such a good eye for design.

I have both an afghan and a quilt that my grandmother made me. I treasure them both. My grandmother was so creative. I wish she were still around and well to teach me some things. She did try to teach me basket weaving one summer when I was a girl, but all I remember from that was a warped basket and sore fingers....It was fun just being with her though.

  2. Beautiful page! What I remember most fondly about my paternal grandmother was her steadfast devotion to family. She was also quite a fancy dresser. Every day she put on her pearls and high heels, even if she never left the house.

  3. Love this page and the sentiment. All of my grandparents had passed on by the time I started scrapbooking. There are so many things that I would love to ask but can't now. I love this line too and can see it would be great for heritage photos. Thanks for the inspriation!

  4. Such a great page with beautiful layering :)

Lisa - that is exactly why I scrapbook!!! I have learned a lot over the years now about my parents and grandparents, but it's just not enough. I always come across something else I wonder about. My parents I can ask, but all four of my grandparents are gone now. And my children now are always asking me about when I was younger! So I am scrapbooking stories for us :)

I have a lot of favorite memories of my grandparents so it is hard for me to pick :)

  14. I love the layout and the photo! I too, have a crocheted bedspread, but my mother made mine. It's made of a white thread that has a slight sparkle to it. My mother often teases me and say's it nearly made her go blind while she made it! LOL Love Penny
