A Visit to Highland Park

Highland Park, and its 150 acres, is home to Rochester's annual Lilac Festival. Depending on where you are from you may say lie-lack or lie-lock. I know I received a good amount of teasing when I first moved here for pronouncing the flower as lie-lack. Turns out both are correct, but what do Rochesterians know? LOL!

The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, our nation's foremost park designer. He also designed Central Park in New York City.

My youngest sister made a visit to us last weekend and since she has studied garden design and horticulture, we took her to the Lamberton Conservatory at Highland Park. The smell alone was intoxicating, but take a look at some of the photos I took. I was intrigued by the interesting colors and textures to be seen.
