Sterling Forest Gardens

This layout took days (Yes, I really meant to type days. LOL!) to get down on paper. For some reason, it wasn't coming together (even though I was using a sketch). I'm having a hard time scrapping older photos. I'm getting wrapped up in my emotions, knowing my parents are no longer here, knowing I can no longer ask questions about the photos, etc.

I stuck with it though, as you can see, and I'm pretty happy with the result. The cool thing was, I had an inkling of where these pictures were taken based on something my Mom wrote in my baby book circa 1966 (although these photos are from two years earlier). I did a Google search for "Sterling Forest Gardens". Not only was I able to learn about the property, but I found photos from around the same time. Some of them were even taken from the same spot where my Mom and I are standing! I thought that was pretty cool!

  2. I love it, and I too struggle with old pictures. I recently went through pics of my son, and I got so sad knowing I will not be having another baby.

  4. Love this. I've had times where I've taken days to finish a layout. I'm not always sure why. It shouldn't... but it does. I'm always so relieved when I finish it.

  6. The framing with the white ink really pulls it all together! Nicely done!

  7. First of all HUGS to you, Lisa! Not easy when going through all those pictures without striking a memory or two. But the power of internet certainly helped you :) Great page - love the contrast of black against the beautiful papers and embellishments!

  8. I loved how your layout turned out! My mom is ill, and I know that her time is short, so I understand the feeling you must be having. No one can replace your mother! Love Penny Scrap-aholic@blogspot.com
