Top 12 Product Favorites of 2012

Now that we are saying goodbye to 2012 (can you believe it?) and hello to 2013, I thought it would be fun to share my top 12 product favorites of 2012 (in no particular order). These are products I found myself going to again and again (even ordering more when I ran out of something).

1. Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection: Soft colors, feminine florals, and mason jars. Who can resist mason jars?

2. Simple Stories Fabulous Collection: Bingo cards. Need I say more? :)

3. Jillibean Soup Alphabean Stickers: Perfect size. Perfect font.

4. Bella Blvd. Flags: Flags and banners were all the rage this year and work well when you need just a "little something" for a project.

5. Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection: The burlap and denim won me over as did the memorabilia pockets.

6. Little Yellow Bicycle The Escape Collection: Perfect for travel (and even school) photos.

7. Simple Stories Harvest Lane Collection: Loved the fall colors with a touch of aqua.

8. Doodlebug Pearls: Each package contains three sizes of pearls in two color shade variations.

9. Whisker Graphics Polka Dot Bitty Bags: Love to use these to hold journaling cards and tags. They come in a number of different colors.

10. Simple Stories Sn@p Collection: Fun and colorful and perfect for just about any photo.

11. Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings Collection: A totally stunning winter collection!

12. Studio Calico Calendar Pockets: Another great way to store memorabilia or journaling.

So there you have it. An even dozen of my favorite product picks of 2012. I've provided links to each product for reference purposes. I am not receiving anything from any of the subsidiary links to post this. They are just places I like to shop. :)

Happy New Year!

It is a String Thing (Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings)

Alexa's first middle school orchestra concert was a few weeks ago. It's always fun to hear the whole orchestra play together when you've only heard your child practicing their part alone. I'm so proud of her and the poise and calm she showed before the concert. I don't think I was that pulled together before performing in front of an audience when I was her age. How about you?

Anyway, enough of the proud parent stuff. On to the layout...

This is pretty much all Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings with bits of Pink Paislee, Simple Stories, Doodlebug and October Afternoon. I sewed a pocket to the polka dot paper using a blue cardstock base layered with the striped paper. This allows the concert program to be easily removed at any time. I really love how the program looks as if it's part of the page design.

Have a great weekend! I'll be back next week.

Eastman Trees (Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings)

(as seen in JOT magazine)

This layout is up on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog today. It's part of a feature on the Winterings Paper Crafting Kit.

This kit is filled with all sorts of snowflakes, some with doily designs (my favorite) and some with "traditional" snowflakes. In addition to the pleated and circular elements there are also diecut snowflakes in the package. So pretty!

As you can see, I used a mix of pleated and round pieces to create a border across my page. Some of the round snowflakes are layered to add dimension. I also used a circle to create a pull for my journaling tag. Do you see the blue scalloped border up in the top right corner? That's one of the pleated flowers (not pleated, of course).

So there are many ways you can use this kit. I hope you were inspired today. :)

Thanksgiving '12 (Simple Stories Harvest Lane)

Before Christmas is upon us next week, I wanted to share this layout about our 2012 Thanksgiving. The journaling is in the kraft envelope. I used mostly Simple Stories Harvest Lane on here, but there are bits and pieces of Little Yellow Bicycle, Bella Blvd. and Jillibean Soup too.

Have a great weekend!

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Summary and Cover

Rather than worry about leaving space on each page for journaling, I chose to do a summary page at the end of the album. The journaling card is easily removed for easy reference.

I actually did the cover LAST. I used Little Yellow Bicycle's new canvas alpha stickers for the title, inking each one a different color to match the colors inside the album. I really like all of the seasonal colors together.

Here's a look back at all of the pages. They are all punched and ready to be bound. I also went back and added in a few embellishments here and there.

So there you have it. A completed album. Thanks so much for enjoying this project with me as it came together. :)

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Days 13 and 14

Today I'm sharing Gallop's adventures during his last days with us.

Day 13: Gallop went for a joy ride.

Day 14: Gallop penned (well, penciled really) his goodbye letter to Alexa).

Tomorrow I'll share the summary page and cover and that will be the end of my Turkey on the Shelf mini album of 2012. :)

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Days 11 and 12

We're nearing the end of my Turkey on the Shelf mini album. Just a few more pages to go. Here are days 11 and 12.

Day 11: Gallop tried his hand at scrapbooking Alexa's school picture. I think he did a pretty good job, especially since he worked mostly with stuff he found in the trash can. LOL!

Day 12: Gallop is getting pretty worn out from all of his antics. Time for a nap with a fluffy tissue pillow and blanket.

Have a great weekend! I'll be back next week with more projects and the conclusion of this mini album. :)

From NY 2 PA (Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings)

This layout (featuring the new Winterings collection) is up on Little Yellow Bicycle's blog today. I'm also sharing a bunch of ideas on how to stretch your embellishments and use them in different ways. There are even some step out photos showing how you can change the color of the new canvas alpha stickers. The title on here started out as white as fresh snow. Come take a look at how I turned the letters blue to match the page. :)

Definitely take a look at this collection! It's beautiful and so versatile, and not just for winter-themed pages. This page is actually about our Thanksgiving trip to Pennsylvania. :) Did I mention that one of the papers actually looks like a cable knit sweater? It's my favorite.

See you tomorrow! Have a great day!

Just Chillin': A Christmas Layout

This is an older layout that appeared in the most recent issue of Scrapbooking & Beyond magazine. I took this photo shortly after we adopted our cat, Butterscotch. He looked so cute sitting in the branches of our Christmas tree. Maybe he thought it was a kitty condo. LOL! He hasn't climbed the tree since although he sure loves to get cozy under the tree. He's even been known to stash his favorite toys (pom poms) under the tree skirt. It's always a surprise to see what he has stashed in there.

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Days 9 and 10

I hope you're not sick of seeing this mini album come together. I'm nearing the end. Promise! :)

Day 9: With just a week to go before Thanksgiving Day, Gallop is encouraging us to eat more chicken, not turkey.

Day 10: Gallop overindulges in Halloween candy.

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Days 7 and 8

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

I'm sharing a few more Turkey on the Shelf mini album pages today.

Day 7: Gallop meets up with members of his family to catch up on happenings in the poultry world.

Day 8: Is Gallop considering extending his stay through Hanukkah? Today he seems to have the ear of Mr. Moose Menorah. If nothing else, he’s seeing the world from a different vantage point.

Turkey on the Shelf Days Mini Album: Days 4, 5 and 6

Here are a couple more pages from the Turkey on the Shelf mini album I'm working on...

Day 4: Gallop is finding himself in a bit of a bind at the moment. He's been tied to the knife block by the Littlest Pet Shop cats. Cats are Alexa's very favorite animal and they are not taking kindly to having a fowl in the house. :) Will this be the end for Gallop? Tune in tomorrow...

Day 5: Gallop is a bit shaken up by yesterday’s capture. He’s now counting down the days until his departure and reveals a banner saying “Fourteen more days until Thanksgiving. That’s when I make a run for it!”

Day 6: Gallop decides to try a piece of Alexa's favorite licorice.

Have a great weekend! I'll be back next week with more pages and projects to share.

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Days 2 and 3

Today I'm sharing a couple more pages from Gallop's Turkey on the Shelf mini album.

Day 2: Gallop has been a couch potato all day. He told me that he's developed a love for popcorn because it's a refreshing change from the corn kernels he usually eats.

Day 3: Gallop got into the rice container, spilled it on the counter, and made a snow angel.

I'll be back with more pages tomorrow. Have a great day!

Turkey on the Shelf Mini Album: Intro and Day 1

Gallop's Turkey on the Shelf adventures are now being committed to paper (a mini album to be exact) for all time. I'm using mainly Little Yellow Bicycle's Acorn Hollow collection with additional embellishments from Little Yellow Bicycle's Savor collection.

Here is Gallop on Day 1 when he appeared at our house. Little did we know the trouble he'd get into in the coming days.

If you may remember, he brought along a note of introduction as well as his belongings. I used a recipe journaling card, from Little Yellow Bicycle's Savor collection, to create a pocket to tuck the note into. This way it can be taken out at any time.

I'll be sharing more album pages this week so stay tuned for more adventures...

Card Share: Tweet on U (Echo Park Hello Summer)

Today I'm sharing a card that was in the Winter '13 issue of Paper Creations. I framed one of the sweet journaling cards from Echo Park's Hello Summer collection and added a sticker sentiment and some jewels around the pre-printed bird. I love the fresh, fun, happy colors and can't wait to send this off to a special Valentine. :)

Card Share: Give Thanks (Simple Stories Yearography)

I guess it's turning out to be a Thanksgiving card extravaganza on my blog the past few days. LOL! This is the last one I'm going to share. Promise! This is all Simple Stories Year.o.graphy (last year's fall collection). I layered a couple of pumpkin stickers over the ones already printed on the patterned paper to give the card a bit of dimension. I also added some pearls to the tree to dress it up a bit. :)

Card Share: Gobble 'Til You Wobble

I'm back today with another Thanksgiving card that appeared in the November issue of CARDS magazine. I knew I wanted to use an envelope on here so I started with that and then started tucking embellishments into it until it looked pleasing to my eye. I love the sprinkling of jewels around the tree, as if leaves are falling off of the branches. :)

Card Share: Thursday Thanksgiving (Bella Blvd.)

Before we get too far past the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to share this card that appeared in the November issue of CARDS magazine. Mostly Bella Blvd. in terms of the paper, but bits of Jillibean Soup, Imaginisce and Jenni Bowlin are on there too. :)

Turkey on the Shelf: Gallop's Continuing Antics and Adventures

Hi everyone! Now that Thanksgiving is over, I thought it would be fun to follow up on a few of Gallop's (our Turkey on the Shelf) antics and adventures in the days leading up to Thanksgiving (and his departure).

Gallop meets up with members of his family to catch up on happenings in the poultry world. Unfortunately his styrofoam cousin (on the left) left home in a bit of a hurry and forgot to put his beak on so he couldn't relay too much news.

Is Gallop considering extending his stay through Hanukkah? He seems to have the ear of Mr. Moose Menorah. If nothing else, he’s seeing the world from a different vantage point.

With just a week to go before Thanksgiving Day, Gallop encourages us to eat more chicken.

Uh-oh. Gallop found Alexa's Halloween candy and overindulged...just a bit.

To make up for eating most of the chocolate in Alexa's Halloween stash, Gallop decided to try his hand at scrapbooking Alexa's school picture. He did a pretty good job, especially given that he picked through the trash to get at some of my scraps. :)

Gallop left the day before Thanksgiving, leaving behind a claw-written note telling Alexa how much fun he had with her. He mentioned a possible visit next year. We'll have to see...
